Leila Feinstein, KTLA Channel 5 News anchor at 1 p.m. and reporter, has been selected as the midlifebachelor.com Woman of the Month for September 2012!
I seldom get the chance to watch the daytime news broadcasts … and even more seldom do I have the opportunity to watch it at 1 p.m. Â But this past week, I was running late to lunch – and turned to Channel 5 (here in the Los Angeles area), and that is where I first saw Leila Feinstein. Â Wow – she is absolutely stunning … and she reads the news in such a calm manner that it is disarming. Â She is clearly an under-utilized newscaster because she should have a primetime news anchor spot … or at least I think so.
Here is what we know about Leila Feinstein. Â She is half Jewish, and half Thai. Â Leila’s father is Alan Shawn Feinstein, Founder of the Feinstein Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering education and ending hunger. Â Her mother is Dr. Pratarnprn Feinstein, a psychiatrist and native of Bangkok, Thailand. Â I did not see a wedding ring on Leila’s finger, but I did find a reference to her husband, actor Chaka Forman, from back in 2008. Â We also know that she has two children, and that she enjoys spending time with them, as well as swimming, dancing, camping, and yoga.
Leila Feinstein started at KTLA in 2001 as a freelance reporter and anchor for two years, then went full-time at KTLA in 2003. Â She is currently co-anchor for the 1 p.m. KTLA news broadcast, and has also been the weekend sports anchor, and a weekday news reporter. Â She received a Los Angeles Press Club Award and a Golden Mike Award for a report on a local quadriplegic surfer, and a Golden Mike award for the KTLA News special “Access Asia.” Â Prior to KTLA, she worked as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor at KRON and BAY-TV in San Francisco and San Jose. Â She also worked as a sideline sports reporter for Fox Sports Net, and at KCOY in Santa Maria, CA.
Leila began her broadcasting career as an associate producer at CBS while obtaining her Masters degree in Broadcast Journalism at NYU. Â She has a Bachelors degree in Political Science and theatre/dance from Brown University.
Leila takes part in a lot of volunteer work, as she is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association, mentors teenagers, and works with victims of domestic violence. Â She appears at many KTLA-sponsored and public community events. Â She also volunteers with deaf children in the community, and she speaks Thai and French. [I, personally, only speak French after midnight. ha ha]
Here is a recent video of the lovely Leila Feinstein in action on KTLA …
