Huma Abedin, pregnant wife of the now-former Congressman Anthony Weiner, has been selected as the midlifebachelor.com Woman of the Month for July 2011!
This month’s Woman of the Month selection was an extremely easy choice to make. I’ve seen nothing but this woman’s husband on the TV news every night the last several weeks – with the stories about his tweeting highly inappropriate photos of himself to various women he’d met on the internet. The reporters always mention his wife, Huma Abedin, as being a top-level aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, but they’ve never shown an interview with Huma on the subject. They have mentioned that she is in her first trimester of pregnancy – which to me makes this story that much more difficult for her, I’m sure.
So why did I choose Huma Abedin for our Woman of the Month? The answer is simple – I applaud the way she has reacted publicly … which is to have zero comment (thus far) … and I also applaud the fact that she did not attend her husband’s press conference when he announced his resignation. I would have done exactly the same thing that she did – except I probably would have at least given him a black eye immediately before he left for the press conference. No jury would convict her, or blame her for that matter … since she is the latest member of the “political wives who have endured a scandal” club, whose prestigious members include Maria Shriver, Silda Spitzer, Hillary Clinton, and Jenny Sanford.
Here is what we know about the resilient Huma Abedin. She was born in 1976, which makes her roughly 35 years old. Her father was from India, and her mother from Pakistan – and both were college educators. Huma lived in Saudi Arabia from when she was ages 2 through 17, and then she returned the United States and attended George Washington University. She began working as an intern for the White House in 1996, where she was assigned to then-First Lady, Hillary Clinton. She currently works as the Deputy Chief of Staff and Aide to Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton. Huma Abedin is muslim, and speaks English, Urdu, and Arabic. Huma Abedin married then-Congressman Anthony Weiner in New York on July 10, 2010, and is currently rumored to be in the early stages of pregnancy with their first child.
Huma Abedin is an exceptionally good-looking and fashionable woman. She was featured in a Vogue magazine photoshoot and article in 2007. One of Huma’s best endorsements comes straight from Hillary Clinton, who told Vogue, “Huma Abedin has the energy of a woman in her 20s, the confidence of a woman in her 30s, the experience of a woman in her 40s and the grace of a woman in her 50s, She is timeless, her combination of poise, kindness, and intelligence are matchless, and I am lucky to have had her on my team for a decade now.”
I could not find any live video footage of Huma Abedin speaking, but here is a pretty good CNN news story about her, which shows her at work in various locations with Hillary Clinton …
Typically at this point, we attempt to analyze our Woman of the Month pick in terms of the Midlifebachelor.com 14 Types of Women. Which type or types do you suppose Huma Abedin might be? Well, she is certainly a Jackpot (see Types of Women – Jackpot) since she holds such an important position AND because she is holding herself together so admirably under such stress.
